VerifyMy facial age estimation approved by German regulator
VerifyMy is excited to announce that its facial age estimation technology has been approved by the Kommission für Jugendmedienschutz (KJM), the German regulator for the protection of minors on online media. As a result, the technology can now be used to verify the age of users attempting to access 18+ adult material.
This is an exciting development for age assurance in Germany, a country widely considered one of the more tightly regulated when accessing online adult material. The use of facial age estimation as a method will significantly reduce any potential inconvenience caused by age assurance and give users more choice in how they verify their age.
"The use of artificial intelligence is finding its way into all areas of life. The fact that AI can now also be used to check the age and thus protect children and adolescents from inappropriate content is an important, new step. This is the next milestone in technical child and youth media protection." Said Dr. Marc Jan Eumann, KJM Chairman
As the application of artificial intelligence and its ability to solve everyday problems becomes more evident, VerifyMy hopes to see a broader acceptance and implementation of age estimation technology throughout Europe, significantly helping make the internet safer for children and society.
"We're delighted that the KJM have validated our facial age estimation solution for use in the pornography sector in Germany, and look forward to it playing a key role to help safeguard children and wider society." said Andy Lulham, COO of VerifyMy.
