How it works

The user is asked to scan their ID document using the camera on their device, which is then submitted securely using 256-bit encryption to the Verifymy server. Information is then extracted from the ID document to calculate whether the user meets the service’s minimum age requirements.

If a successful age verification result is returned, the user can continue their journey. If we are unable to verify a user’s age, they will be offered alternative available methods

Data captured

ID information, image and MRZ (Machine Readable Zone, relating to a particular area in an identity document, such as a passport, that encloses the document holder’s personal data).

Anti-fraud checks

The MRZ (in the case of passports) is scanned, and the document scan is compared against ID templates for authenticity and fraud checks. The DOB is then confirmed.
