A robust process for verifying the identity and consent of all participants in content is essential for compliance with card brand mandates

All persons depicted in content are required to verify their identity to ensure participants are over 18 before starting a stream or uploading a video. As part of this verification process, all participants must provide their consent. This ensures compliance with card brand standards while maintaining platform safety.

Mastercard AN5196 requirement

The Merchant must offer the ability for any person depicted in a video or other content to appeal to remove such content. Once triggered, the Merchant must, through a reasonable process, confirm that the appropriate consent was obtained, including as required above. If consent cannot be established, or if the person depicted in the content can demonstrate that the consent is void under applicable law, the Merchant must remove the content with immediate effect. If the Merchant disagrees that consent is void under applicable law, the Merchant must allow such disagreement to be resolved by a neutral body, at the Merchant’s expense.

How it works

Identity and consent verification of content participants is triggered during the content upload process, enabling each participant to complete the verification process and consent to the content being published.

1. Face scan

The user is prompted to take a 3D scan of their face at which point liveness and anti-spoofing checks are carried out and an image is captured for ID verification.

2. Government-issued ID scan

The user then confirms their identity by scanning their government-issued identification document. Ownership of the document is confirmed by comparing the photo taken during the 3D face scan with the photo displayed on the identification.

3. Consent

We confirm all participants’ details during the uploader verification process, enabling each participant to complete a verification process and consent to the content being published.

Identity documents are compared with recognition templates to quickly and accurately recognise all necessary data in over 100 languages while simultaneously checking for data integrity and signs of forgery.

ID cards

Supports ID cards of standard ID-1 and ID-2 formats under ISO/IEC 7810:2019 regulations, automatically identifying the ID type, performing text field OCR, scanning barcodes and signature. ID Card scans are compared against more than 2700 templates of ID documents across 169 countries.

Driver’s licence

Automatically identifies the type of driver’s licence, performs OCR on text fields, recognizes barcodes, extracts the photo and signature. Data integrity and validity of documents are checked against a database of valid identity documents to combat fraudulent use of identification.

Passport

Supports passports issued in 193 UN member states, automatically identifying the passport type, text field OCR, machine-readable zone (MRZ), barcodes and signature. Both ordinary and biometric passports issued in accordance with the ICAO standards are supported.
